Lil Nas X Set To Bring 'Long Live Montero' Tour Documentary To HBO

Lil Nas X fans are in for a treat, as his debut international tour — which concluded last year — will soon be released as a concert documentary.

On Thursday (December 4), the 24-year-old Atlanta-area artist announced that Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero will premiere on HBO and Max on January 27. The film borrows its name from the 60-date global trek in support of his debut album, which ran from September 6, 2022 to March 26, 2023.

Directed by Zac Manuel and Carlos López Estrada, it first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in addition to recordings of his explosive performances, the documentary also features Lil Nas X talking about his place in the music industry as a queer Black man.

The often controversial rapper kept his Instagram announcement simple, writing: “Good News World! Long Live Montero [purple-heart emoji]. Tour Doc. HBO MAX. January 27. BIG 2024.”
